Along Irving Street

During a walk in the Inner Sunset district in San Francisco, we chanced along a farmer’s market and a cute bakery…

PS: the bakery was so crowded and small that I could only get tight shots of its food with my 50mm. See, now if I had a 35mm… oh, one with f/1.4 for low light ability…. then I could totally take the shots I had wanted. (I’m totally going to buy the 35mm/1.4 soon, aren’t I? Sigh.)

  1. These are great shots! I never knew there was a farmers market in the sunset; thanks for the tip. Ditto on the confines the 50mm forces you into at times. This was the main deciding factor for me when I made my 35mm purchase.

  2. I’ve been thinking of a 35 1.4 ever since Nikon released a new one as well. Size, weight, and cost are really up there though! You can work that 35 f/2…crank up the ISO an extra stop, your 5D can take it =)

Ah heck, but you will be buying that L….it’s calling to you!

  3. By the way, your comment on my post about stationary subjects at markets made me laugh. We walked past the seafood stall on the weekend and my dog got a little fright when the stationary object moved in the box on the ground! Crabs with big claws!

  4. i love these images – the bokeh is so buttery in many of these shots! i’m still impressed with what 50mm 1.4 can do, although i understand the excitement and envy over the 35mm 1.4 :)

  5. Love love LOVE these photos. You are too good. How did I not know you were in the Bay Area?! I would’ve tried to arrange a meet-up when I was in town, now I feel like a dingus! Ah well, next time.
